Vehicle tracking systems are being used by urban transit authorities more frequently, especially in big cities, and the efficiency of the production and the overall system of an organization can be increased by using the location tracking system.

The proposed solution basically comprises two modules, which is referred as On-Board Unit (OBU) and a Global Positioning System (GPS) module and a few sensors along with the GSM module to know the location of the vehicle whenever it gets into an unexpected accident or fire accident.

Using the Alcohol sensor, the ignition of engine can also be controlled to prevent accidents and the location of vehicle which had an accident can be tracked, which will help the Ambulance to reach the location with fastest route and save precious lives.

This project aims on developing a plug-n-play vehicle tracking device that helps one to locate the coordinates of their vehicle with the help of simple technologies such as GPS to get the geolocation of the vehicle and GSM to enable a communication path between the device and the user to transmit the recorded coordinates to the user present at a different part of the world.

Using a low-cost GPS receiver integrated with GSM service, a friendly user application has been developed using MIT App Inventor 2.0 by pre-defining the boundary position and checking the alert message and call when the user is crossing the boundary.

The project Android App based Vehicle Tracking Using GSM AND GPRS mainly focuses in tracking the location of the vehicle on which the device has been installed, and sends data in the form of latitude and longitude coordinates through SMS to the user’s mobile where the coordinates will be plotted in the Android app automatically.

A new language for Arduino can be developed through interactive and participatory design practices which intends to be valuable for novice programmers.
