What is No Churn Ice Cream?
No Churn ice cream is made by combining whipped cream (unsweetened) with sweetened condensed milk.
The sweetened condensed milk keeps the ice cream from freezing super firm, and obviously adds sweetness.
While No Churn Ice Cream isn’t quite the same as traditional custard-based ice cream, it’s a fun summer dessert that won’t take hours out of your day!
It’s also really easy to add in your own sauces, swirls and mix ins to make it your own.
How to make no churn ice cream:
- Whip up some cream: you want to incorporate air into this recipe so that your ice cream isn’t a frozen block of creamy! For this reason only heavy whipping cream will work.
- Fold in some sweetened condensed milk — the sugar keeps the ice cream from freezing completely solid, and obviously adds sweetness.
- Add in any mix ins you want! For this recipe we use chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, chopped pecans and chopped Turtle candies.
- Freeze! In 4-6 hours you can have soft serve consistency, but I usually let it freeze overnight if possible.

I have been making this no churn ice cream for a couple of years now and my husband loves it. He also loves a Turtle Sundae. I see this recipe calls for turtle candies. In my country we do not have turtle candy. Are they absolutely necessary or can I replace them with chopped up Toblerone say. Or can I leave them out completely.

I would love to make this but am a type 2 diabetic. Is there anyway to make this so I can eat it?

I made this and loved it. It was perfect and SO delicious. My husband said it was a little bit too rich. Do you believe that as a complaint? Life should always be so difficult for him. Great recipe. Keep up the good work.

I made this in summer berrys and it was great. BUT it did not freeze hard like ice cream and the only thing I can think of was I did not beat the Cream long enough? Or is it supposed to be very soft?

Hi Wanda! Mine does get very hard like ice cream. Do you have it in a deep chest freezer? Different freezers are different temperatures so I’m not sure if that’s why? I know our fridge freezer doesn’t freeze the same as our chest freezer or our upright freezer — the chest is the coldest! I would just beat the cream until it’s whipped cream and I think you’d be fine. I hope that helps!

Hi Ashley! When we moved somehow my ice cream maker disappeared, but with so many no churn recipes (which are much easier) I don’t miss it! The hardest part is deciding which to make first!

Turtles are my weakness! I love the slightly salty crunch added by the pecans. Adding this to our summer must-make bucket list!

I’m not picky when it comes to ice cream, so I think I could devour ALL of these flavors! I love the turtle version, though…gives it such a nice texture and chocolatey flavor! YUM!

Question….do you freeze this covered or uncovered?
Reply
Ashley Fehr says
You can do either! If you’re freezing it for more than a few hours until you can eat it I would definitely cover with plastic wrap.
