These all-natural homemade Teething Biscuits help soothe sore gums. Because teething time is no fun - for baby or parent. But thanks to the sponsors of today's post, Orajel™ Kids, there is gentle relief.
Olivia is 10 months now, and I feel we've figured out a somewhatgood day-to-day routine that keeps us both happy. But it seems whenever she is close to reaching another milestone everything gets thrown off balance.
Suddenly, she just won't fall asleep at nap time. Instead of her usual two naps, she'll only have one. Or out of the blue she refuses to go to sleep at night-time.
I don't believe there is a point to let her cry it out if she just isn't tired yet. So instead of a bedtime between 7-8 suddenly, she doesn't want to sleep before 9:30 pm!! And I don't even mind it that much. Since that usually means she'll also sleep until 9am or later.
The Wonderful Opportunity of Teething
We are in one of those off-phases right now and teething is the culprit. I believe she is a little late in the teething game. So far she only has her two bottom front teeth. But the upper ones must be coming in any time now.
When Olivia is teething, my usual Miss Independent suddenly becomes quite clingy and attached. Despite amber necklace she suddenly is drooling constantly and is very restless in her sleep.
Baby Orajel Teething Gel Works
Thankfully, we just got to try Baby Orajel Naturals Nighttime Teething Gel and it has made a huge difference. The soothing power of chamomilla and passionflower have brought effective relief.
I rub a little bit of the gel on her sore gums just before bedtime and/or when she wakes up irritated and uncomfortable in the middle of the night. My sweetie has been sleeping much more peaceful since. And so have I!

Helping Olivia with Her Teething
During the day we've been helping Olivia soothe here teething discomfort in 2 ways:
- We make small baby popsicles. Either just frozen water or fruit purees that she can suck on while simultaneous numbing her gums.
- Teething Biscuits!
These Teething Biscuits are Perfect!
These are hard cookies that she can gnaw her heart out on. Unlike store-bought teething biscuits, I made these with only whole, natural ingredients and NO sugar. Ripe, mashed banana gives the biscuits flavor and sweetness.
I used organic, wholegrain stone-ground spelt flour and I am sure other whole-grain flours can be substituted. For addednutritional value I also put in a littlecoconut. Ground flax or chia seed would work too.
Biscuits for Gnawing, Not Necessarily Eating
The biscuits aren't really for consumption - just gnawing. So they should be quite dry and hard, without being crumbly (as that could pose a chocking hazard).
Olivia is already eating solids and usually feeds herself. I found she gets frustrated if she has the biscuit before mealtimes, since she can't bite pieces off. With a full tummy though, she is content to just bite and suck on the teething biscuit.
