Cameroon SMEs Get Boost: AfDB's €25 Million Trade Finance Facility (2025)

The African Development Bank Group has approved a substantial €25 million trade finance facility to empower Crédit Communautaire d'Afrique-Bank (CCA-Bank) in Cameroon. This initiative aims to significantly enhance CCA-Bank's capacity to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other businesses, fostering economic growth and job creation in the country. The funding will be utilized to provide risk coverage for eligible African banks through the Transaction Guarantee, a specialized product designed to facilitate trade finance transactions. This move aligns with the African Development Bank's commitment to increasing direct interventions in favor of the private sector in Cameroon, particularly supporting SMEs owned by women and young people. The facility will facilitate the import of essential equipment for key sectors like industrial, agro-industrial, and telecommunications, thereby boosting local production and economic development. CCA-Bank's Managing Director, Marguerite Fonkwen Atanga, expressed gratitude for the strategic partnership, highlighting its potential to strengthen the bank's support for SMEs, women entrepreneurs, and startups across Cameroon and Africa.
